My Low-Maintenance Secret to a Beautiful Home

I have a secret. A way I add beautiful little touches to my home that requires no maintenance. I see many interior designers online talk about adding fresh flowers to your home as an easy way to add beauty and elegance. In my mind fresh flowers=maintenance. It can be $15 for just one bouquet and maybe if you switch out the water every night you can stretch that bouquet to last a good two weeks, but am I willing to do that for multiple bouquets so that every room in my house feels fresh and beautiful? No. But will I never buy fresh flowers ever again? Also, no. I love a good fresh bouquet every now and then and during the Christmas season we pretty much always buy poinsettias. But I think I have a good low maintenance solution that allows you to add a little touch to every room or corner and then let it be and that is dried floral. Sure, dried floral isn't alive and may not be quite as vibrant as some fresh bouquets, but I still think it looks beautiful. I'll prove it to you with some photos of where I use it around my house as well as where I source it from.

This is a little moment on one of the floating shelves in the kitchen. I got the daisy's breath from my local grocery store, hung it upside down to dry out and put it in a little vase I had on hand and there you go!

Another moment in the kitchen. Also a grocery store bouquet I dried out. The vase is actually an old candle I froze out which is a great tip if you have any beautiful candle holders almost empty - pop them in the freezer and the wax will harden enough for you to scoop in right out. Then you can repurpose the jar for whatever you want.

Our house is a little older and because of that it includes some really stunning character, including this mantel as well as built in glass hutches in the dining room. I wanted to do them justice with elegant decorations. The purple flowers are actually cut from our rose bush outside then dried out. They are styled in a vase from Amazon.

This pretty moment is from our living room. Another grocery store bouquet, but this time styled in a vase I got from Goodwill for about $3 - the best place to buy glass for a good price.

Our bedroom dresser has a sweet corner with a bouquet I recently got from being a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding. Vase again from Goodwill.

This last shot is from our guest room. The bouquet is actually my wedding bouquet. The vase is a glass vase from Goodwill, but I painted it with a little paint mixed with baking soda to give it a textured look.

Those are all the special moments in my house where I used dried floral - no watering, changing water, replacing bouquets every few weeks. Just set it and forget it! I also have a bunch of dried floral specifically for Autumn that I got from Marshall's a couple years ago. Marshall's is a good source for beautiful affordable dried floral - if they have it. From my experience it is rare, so if you see a good bunch there definitely snag it while you can. I have plans to buy some Christmas/winter dried floral to swap out these areas in as well and I'm mostly looking to purchase from afloral online. I will say they are a bit pricier than the other options I've mentioned but that's the great thing about dried floral is it's only a one time investment, and long term might actually save you money if you don't buy fresh flowers as often. I store my dried floral with the rest of my seasonal decor, so it's easy to just swap out when I'm swapping out other decor in my home for the season.

That's all I have to say about my dried floral tip! Although you'll probably see updates in any seasonal decor posts I may do. I hope that if you're anything like me - wanting beautiful touches in your home with no maintenance involved, then this post gave you a little inspiration.

Say hi to me!
